Our DT curriculum is viewed as an important part of the children’s entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum. Design technology provides the children with the opportunities to develop and extend skills and an opportunity to express their individual interests, thought and ideas. We have a subscription with the DT Association for DT and use Projects on a Page for our curriculum delivery.

In EYFS, children begin by learning the foundation skills for design and technology. In Key Stage 1, we have an A-B rolling programme in place and in Key Stage 2, we have an A-B-C-D rolling programme in place.

We aim to:

• learn about the principles of Nutrition - keeping healthy and life skills (cooking)
• engage, inspire, challenge –developing proficiency in different mediums, taking risks, becoming resourceful, innovate, enterprising and capable citizens
• experiment, design, test and critique - their own works and that of others, including designing and making high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users
• learn about a range of Influencers – world-wide designers, local designers – past and present in the technological world
• explore the evolution of society – history, culture, creativity, wealth
• confidently use vocabulary related to Design Technology
