These results are very positive with almost every questions having a 100% combined strongly agree or agree response.

It is especially pleasing for the staff at our school to see that 88% of the parents that responded said they strongly agree that their child feels safe and is well looked after at our school, with 79% responding strongly that their child is happy at Shortlanesend School.

As well as the numerical feedback we received a number of genuinely supportive and positive comments, including:

“My daughter loves coming to school and would stay longer every day if possible.”

“My children are very happy at Shortlanesend, and as a parent I think the school is well managed and would highly recommend it!”

“You are doing great because my child comes home smiling and happy.”

“I find it a very supportive and friendly environment……the children are all really happy and progressing well.”

“Children feel safe and happy at school. Teachers are approachable and kind.”

“Welcoming, friendly environment.”           “Thank you so much for all you do.”

“Excellent pastoral care and teaching methods. Teachers take a personal approach to children.”

Happy environment  - children enjoy school.” “Always positive attitudes towards children.”

“The school secretary is excellent and very much appreciated.”

As gratifying as these results are, one thread we noticed in a few questionnaires was, some parents wanted more information on their child’s education throughout the year.

Currently the teachers provide the opportunity for a formal consultation every term, as well as the weekly drop in sessions on Fridays for parents to view their children’s work. Furthermore, the termly assembly provides another opportunity to visit the school and look at the children’s books. Also, there is a written report issued in July.

Following discussion, and to further increase information sharing the teachers have developed an idea to issue a very succinct half termly report slip, which will highlight where your child is currently assessed as working in reading, writing and mathematics. (The traditional 3Rs). Children in Years 1-6  will receive one of these slips every half term (starting at the end of this term), except the final half term – where the detailed written report will be issued instead. Parents of children in Class 1 will continue to receive regular updates through Tapestry, and will not be issued with a termly slip.

Thank you for your continued support. Remember, all the staff at our school want exactly the same as what you want – the very best for your child. So if you need to talk to us, talk to us. The staff are available before and after school, either in person or by phone.
